Optimising Conflict

This two-day SMARTspace discusses the various types and stages of conflict, explore its root causes and triggers, and examine effective approaches to managing and resolving conflict.

Ensure that conflict situations are not just managed but optimised to enhance your leadership, strengthen relationships, and drive team and organisational success.

  • Gain an understanding of the conflict model, the stages and modes of conflict, and how to optimise conflict situations.
  • Understand the types of conflict within relationships, values, leadership, personality, style, ethics, etc.
  • Understand the SCARF model (developed by neuroscientist Dr. David Rock, explaining the social domains that trigger our brains in a positive or negative way) and how it impacts (and is impacted by) conflict situations.
  • Control your emotions and behaviour. When you are in control of your emotions, you can communicate your needs without threatening, frightening, or punishing others.
  • Pay attention to the feelings being expressed, as well as the spoken words of others.
  • Proactively identify, assess, and address conflict situations in the workplace.
  • Remain mindful of SCARF in conflict situations to keep all parties in a toward state and switched on.
