Empowerment
for Middle Managers
The following SMARTspaces can be run as independent sessions
or be selected and packaged to be facilitated as a programme.
Negotiation Skills
This two-day SMARTspace focuses on the art of negotiation, the negotiation process, as well as skills necessary for keeping all parties in a toward state and switched on to ensure successful negotiations.
When facing challenges, solving problems, or closing contracts, negotiation serves as an essential tool for reaching favourable agreements while mitigating interpersonal, intergroup, and structural conflicts. Successful negotiation involves several key elements, including preparation, active listening, effective communication, and the ability to find mutually beneficial solutions.
- Gain an understanding of the process of negotiation and the key elements that impact negotiations.
- Understand the different types of thinking styles (HBDI) that impact negotiations.
- Develop key skills and competencies that will enable them to remain mindful of their own and the other party’s SCARF to negotiate effectively and professionally.
- Apply what they learnt through different roleplaying scenarios.
- Before entering any negotiation, analyse key elements learned to improve outcomes.
- Use knowledge of HBDI thinking styles to tailor negotiation approaches for different individuals.
- Stay mindful of SCARF to build trust and reduce resistance during negotiations.
- Conduct role playing exercises or simulations with colleagues to refine negotiation techniques and increase confidence in real workplace situations.
Brian’s passion and insight are contagious, and he has always left me inspired but also challenged beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. I can definitely recommend him to anyone serious about change.
